Four Bears Water Park

New 4 Bears Waterpark Grand opening for $6 million park scheduled for Saturday

Record temperatures in many parts of North Dakota are leaving people asking how they can beat the heat. Many people turned to New Town's newest attraction to cool down. Hundreds waited in line to get a first glimpse of the new 4 Bears Water Park.

"I've been here since twelve," said New Town resident Dawn Marie Johnson.

The new facility features two slides, a lazy river, concessions, locker rooms, and a big splash pad area.

"I'm excited to see the new slides. I've seen it since they first started constructing this on the first day of summer," said New Town Resident Kassiey Finley.

Tribal Chairman Mark Fox says he hopes it helps people beat the hot temps and bring people to New Town.

"It's just one more thing that our tribe and our government are trying to do to promote recreation and healthy positive lifestyles," Fox said.

Some New Town residents seem to agree with the Chairman, saying the six million dollar investment will be well worth it.

"I've been waiting for this. It's something that's very needed for our children. I have grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will be coming here," Johnson said.

Giving North Dakotan's another way to enjoy the summer, while it's still around.

The park is open daily from eleven AM until seven PM through labor day.

4 Bears plans to open a beach area as an addition to the water park, sometime next week.
